For most SEC schools not named Kentucky or Florida, the college basketball season provides only a small respite from the bleak football-less landscape. This year, however, South Carolina’s improbable run to the Final Four has captured everyone’s attention.

As expected, Gamecocks fans are thrilled with the team’s first appearance in the final weekend of the NCAA Tournament. There’s likely to be a lot of people wearing garnet and black in Phoenix when South Carolina takes on Gonzaga on Saturday, and there is now a GoFundMe page to help one special fan make the trip.

His name is Gamecock Jesus, and he’s been a mainstay at South Carolina sporting events since 1968. With a long beard and a lot of energy, Gamecock Jesus has become a fan favorite who spreads joy to anyone he’s near.

Fans who wish to donate to the GoFundMe page can do so here. South Carolina and Gonzaga will tip at 6:09 p.m. ET in Phoenix on Saturday.

UPDATE: Gamecock fans have helped to raise nearly $8,000 for Gamecock Jesus. With these funds, he will be able to send his two sons as well as an additional guest to Phoenix to cheer on South Carolina in the Final Four.
