Steve Spurrier won’t comment on possible coaching staff changes heading into 2015 after what has been a disappointing year defensively for the Gamecocks.

Following Saturday’s Independence Bowl win over Miami, South Carolina’s head coach said keeping what remains of the Gamecocks’ recruiting class is of utmost importance at this moment:

Spurrier’s full quote: “We’ll finish up recruiting with all our guys. If something happens down the road to strengthen our staff somewhere, then obviously I’ll look at that. Right now, we’ll enjoy this win. We’ll call our players and hopefully keep all of them coming and maybe pick up one or two after this win.”

The Gamecocks responded defensively against the Hurricanes despite allowing 132 yards on 24 carries to Duke Johnson. South Carolina’s bowl victory was its fourth straight in the postseason and avoided what would’ve been Spurrier’s first losing season with the Gamecocks.
