Columbia, home of the University of South Carolina, is a classic example of a southern college town. When the Gamecocks beat SEC East rival Florida to advance to the Final Four, this normally quiet town went absolutely wild.

In a town that’s most famous for football, these students were understandably shocked when their basketball team, which hadn’t won an NCAA Tournament game since 1973, advanced to the Final Four.
