Jake Bentley is well known for his emotional leadership for South Carolina, especially after big plays when he celebrates with teammates.

But after his first touchdown and two-point conversion, Bentley took his helmet and smashed a chair on the sideline as he bounced into teammates, firing everyone up along the way. It was captured by WLTX and the video has circulated since Saturday’s game.

On his Sunday media teleconference, coach Will Muschamp was asked about the video and said he had no knowledge of it, but that Bentley, “battled his ass off and put us in position to win the game.” The coach added that Bentley’s their quarterback, and he wants players to be who they are.

As South Carolina enters its bye week, questions continued about the direction of the team at quarterback as Bentley struggled early in the loss to Texas A&M, but also engineered a strong third quarter, and watched several receivers drop catchable passes.

Muschamp returned to Bentley after he sat out the Missouri game with a knee injury and Michael Scarnecchia played very well in the win, and it appears that won’t change any time soon.
