The South Carolina Gamecocks have had some major injury issues in the secondary, particularly the past two seasons.

Though their starters are healthy entering the summer, coach Will Muschamp revealed that a redshirt sophomore safety would miss the entire 2019 season.

Per Muschamp at SEC Media Days, Jaylin Dickerson will miss the season due to a bone growth that needs to be fixed surgically:

That’s obviously a setback for the Gamecocks’ secondary depth, but the good news is he’s expected back for the 2020 spring season.

Dickerson appeared in 10 games in 2018, primarily as a special teams player, recording 13 tackles for the South Carolina defense.
