Who is the strongest SEC running back at the NFL Combine?

If the bench press portion of the workout is any indication, it is Georgia’s Keith Marshall, not Alabama’s Derrick Henry.

The prospects were tested on how many times they could bench press 225-pounds consecutively during Thursday’s workout in Indianapolis.

Here’s how the SEC running backs fared, and where they ranked within the position group, according to NFL.com:

  • 1st – Keith Marshall, Georgia, 25 reps
  • T-5th – Derrick Henry, Alabama, 22 reps
  • T-7th – Brandon Wilds, South Carolina, 21 reps
  • T-9th – Peyton Barber, Auburn, 20 reps
  • T-10th – Tra Carson, Texas A&M, 19 reps
  • T-12th – Alex Collins, Arkansas, 18 reps
  • Jonathan Williams, Arkansas, 16 reps
  • Kelvin Taylor, Florida, 15 reps
  • Kenyan Drake, Alabama 10 reps

The SEC claimed both the top of the list and the bottom for the position.

Marshall’s 25 reps were bested by three fullbacks, but among true running backs he was the top dog.

Drake’s 10 reps were the worst at the position, but lucky for the former Crimson Tide running back, there aren’t many teams looking at him for his upper body strength.
