We come to the top two toughest schedules in the SEC. The Alabama Crimson Tide, coming off a 2011 national championship, will be looking to reload in 2012. The Tide will have plenty of incoming talent to remain highly competitive, but the schedule will make it difficult to run the table.

The Auburn Tigers come into 2012 looking to rebound after a BCS Champioship hangover. Losing offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn and stud running back Michael Dyer doesn’t help, but the Tigers still have some nice talent on the roster. They’ll need it as they have the third toughest schedule in the SEC.

As we made the case in the 2012 Gators schedule, the top five SEC schedules are in a league of their own. The difficulty level with these schedules is very high. The South Carolina Gamecocks, coming into 2012 with a potential top ten ranking, face a very difficult schedule.

As we get into the top 5 schedules for 2012, we see a significant increase in difficulty. Not that the previous nine schedules weren’t difficult, but the top five are likely some of the toughest schedules in college football. We start the “top-tier” with the Florida Gators, coming in with the 2nd toughest schedule in the SEC East and the fifth toughest in the entire conference.

Welcome to the SEC, Aggies! In your inaugural season in the Southeastern Conference, you get to play 3 likely top ten teams next season, not including Florida or Auburn. The Aggies also get one of the worst three game road stretches in the conference.

The LSU Tigers bring back a ton of talent in 2012, and they’re going to need it. With the 7th most difficult schedule in the SEC, the Bayou Bengals have a tough road in 2012. Interestingly, LSU goes from a brutal September in 2011 to a relatively easy one in 2012.

Derek Dooley enters 2012 needing a season that surprises to the upside. While the Vols have 3 likely top ten teams on their schedule with two of them on the road, the rest of their schedule is somewhat manageable. There are a number of winnable games on the schedule. The Vols need to win the games they’re supposed to win, and see if they can knock off an unexpected victory or two. Add it up and you have yourself a nice 2012 if your a Vols fan.

The 2012 Arkansas Razorbacks will likely enter the season with a top ten ranking. Bobby Petrino has himself a nice program on his hands, and 2012 could be the best opportunity for the Hogs to get over the hump and win the SEC West. While LSU will be loaded with talent, Alabama definitely takes a step back with the losses to either graduation or the NFL. While Arkansas’ schedule is by no means a cake walk, they do get both LSU and Alabama at home this year.
