Kevin Sumlin is off to a great 2018. The former Aggie coach is expected to be handed his full $10.5 million buyout by Texas A&M in the coming days and he just took over Rich Rodriguez’s Arizona program that went to a bowl game last season.

Of course, with a new job comes a new salary and Sumlin’s A&M buyout is not lessened by taking another job. Sumlin will be double dipping so to speak in 2018 — to the tune of $2 million dollars no less. Not bad at all.

Full details of Sumlin’s Arizona contract have been announced, he’s scheduled to make just under $15 million in five seasons in Tucson. Sports Reporter Ari Alexander of KVOA News 4 Tucson shared the details of Sumlin’s deal during Tuesday’s press conference held by the school.

Sumlin prepared the following statement, offering up the promise of a class program and, of course, a future containing championships.

“I’m humbled and honored to join the Arizona family. With a strong foundation already in place, we work quickly to assemble an elite coaching staff and immediately begin the work of building our culture, recruiting future Wildcats, and connecting with Wildcats past and present. We will win championships. We will graduate our players and they will contribute to the University in many ways while they are here. We will represent Arizona with class and pride.”
