Green Bay made a rare splash in NFL free agency this offseason, after failing to meet the price set by the team’s former tight end Jared Cook, the Packers quickly reached an agreement with Martellus Bennett. Coming off a Super Bowl win with New England, Bennett is clearly confident in his ability to make a difference in the Green Bay offense.

During an appearance on the NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, Bennett failed to see the logic in the belief that the Packers would be set back by the loss of Cook and his addition — something the show touched on following Green Bay’s free agency decision back in April.

Here’s what Bennett, a former Texas A&M standout, had to say in rebuttal to that line of thinking.

“I’m not a downgrade from anyone,” Bennett said on the program. “I’m like Beyonce, let me upgrade you baby.”

Bennett went on to note his level of production has been shown at several different stops during his NFL career. Considering he’ll be joining arguably the best quarterback in the league next season in Aaron Rodgers, there’s little reason to suspect a decline in performance starting in 2017.
