The Miami Dolphins made the playoffs for the first time since 2009, but they may have to take the field without their starting quarterback.

Former Texas A&M star Ryan Tannehill injured his knee late in the season and, according to the Miami Herald, will likely miss the wildcard playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday:

“It’s getting better every day. That’s what we’re working for – to be able to move, protect myself, to be able to move in the pocket, evade the rush,” Tannehill said. “That’s what we’re working through – range of motion, strength and everything to make that possible.”

Tannehill returned to practice on Friday, though, so it’s possible he could return if the Dolphins advance past Pittsburgh.

There, they’d have to face No. 1 seed New England in Foxboro, no easy task. However, beating the Steelers in Pittsburgh also isn’t easy, so there’s no guarantee Tannehill will see anymore action this year.
