For the fourth straight year, a Texas A&M offensive tackle has gone in the first round as the Seattle Seahawks selected him at No. 31 overall in the 2016 NFL draft on Thursday night.

The 6-foot-6, 324-pounder was projected by CBS Sports as the sixth-best offensive tackle in the class. Last season, Ifedi was named Second Team All-SEC by the coaches, marking the fourth straight year an Aggies tackle was recognized by the coaches.

Ifedi follows in the footsteps of fellow tackles Luke Joeckel (2nd overall in 2013), Jake Matthews (6th overall in 2014) and Cedric Ogbuehi (21st overall in 2015).

Ifedi started 37 out of a possible 39 games for the Aggies over the last three seasons, including 24 of the last 26 at right tackle.

With the Houston native manning the right side of Texas A&M’s offensive live, the Aggies offense finished 1st in passing yards per game in 2014 (305.5) and 4th in 2015 (255.6).

He also got some experience at guard during his time in College Station, playing inside in 2013 while blocking for QB Johnny Manziel, who was a Heisman finalist that season after winning the award the previous year.

Ifedi is the 15th Aggies player to be selected since the 2012 draft. That matches Texas A&M’s combined total in the previous eight drafts from 2004-11.
