The Texas A&M Aggies did something LSU and other teams couldn’t do in recent years — convince Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher to leave Tallahassee.

The Aggies threw a lot of money at Fisher, of course, but the former national champion said it was about more than just money.

During an appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay on Saturday morning, Fisher said his relationship with Texas A&M AD Scott Woodward was a big part of his decision to head to College Station.

“The relationship I have with Scott Woodward, Scott and I go back to our LSU days. I knew he had the vision for what we want to do. When your administration can see the way you do when you’re trying to flip a program around, that’s critical.”

Indeed, it seems as if the entire university was on board with hiring Fisher, which must be a good feeling.

Fisher has his work cut out for him to match the success he had at Florida State, but he’ll have every resource at his disposal.
