Texas A&M has officially lost a potential contributor to its defense, as Kevin Sumlin confirms that sophomore safety Justin Dunning will miss the season following a knee injury.

Dunning left practice early Monday after sustaining the injury. Thursday evening, Sumlin revealed that the injury would cost the defender his 2016 season:

Dunning played in only five games last season for the Aggies but managed to rack up 20 tackles and an interception in limited duties. Sumlin also indicated that Dunning had torn his ACL but has yet to have surgery.

Prior to suffering the injury, Sumlin said Dunning would see time at linebacker, safety and nickelback this season thanks to his versatility.
