Where would Super Bowl MVP Von Miller be if he had left Texas A&M after his freshman season?

It’s a fascinating possibility to consider, because Miller’s path could have unfolded much differently.

The linebacker spoke about his past in a video with CBS Sports. In it, he describes how he planned to transfer after then-coach Mike Sherman suspended Miller in spring 2008 because of academic issues. Miller’s father, however, convinced the young player to keep grinding away for the Aggies.

Miller spoke about the situation with his father in the video.

“I was this close from leaving,” Miller said in the clip. “If it wasn’t for you, I’d be somewhere else right now.”

Stories like this make you realize how important timing, circumstance and the choices that we make can be. It’s possible that Miller could have gone elsewhere and risen to stardom — Cam Newton’s untraditional path comes to mind — but it’s obvious Miller made the right choice by staying in College Station.

The Broncos, for one, are glad he did.
