The Texas A&M Aggies are reportedly going to fire coach Kevin Sumlin in the days following this weekend’s LSU game, whether the Aggies win or lose.

The Aggies’ top target to replace Sumlin is reportedly Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher. However, it won’t be easy for Texas A&M to hire Fisher away from a place where he’s already won a national championship.

Making matters tougher, Florida State isn’t going to let Fisher walk without a fight. According to an Orlando Sentinel report, the Seminoles are prepared to offer Fisher the improvements he wants to keep the Seminoles competitive on a national level:

But Florida State is committed to competitively paying any new football coaching assistants needed to assist Fisher in steering the Seminoles back in the winning direction.

The program also is committed to fulfilling Fisher’s request for a football-only complex to streamline productivity for the program’s coaches, players and personnel.

Will that be enough to keep Fisher in Tallahassee? That remains to be seen, but the Aggies may try to top even that offer.

Of course, before the Aggies can do anything, they have to fire Sumlin, which apparently may happen as soon as Saturday night.
