Back in the 2017 recruiting cycle, LB Santino Marchiol out of IMG Academy (by way of Colorado) was a 4-star prospect.

He committed to Texas A&M, but spent last fall on the bench as a redshirt. Heading into the 2018 season, he was expected to serve as a backup linebacker, but it doesn’t appear that’s what he’ll be doing.

According to 247Sports, Marchiol is leaving the Aggies to pursue other opportunities:

It has been reported to Gigem247 that Texas A&M linebacker Santino Marchiol has left the A&M program. Marchiol committed to the Aggies in the summer of 2017, choosing them over offers from Cal, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Nebraska, Ohio State, Tennessee, UCLA, Washington, and Wisconsin.

The Aggies still have plenty of depth at the linebacker position entering the 2018 season, but it was going to be interesting to see how Marchiol fit into the new coaching staff’s plans.

Now, we won’t get that chance. It remains to be seen where Marchiol ends up next.
