Jadeveon Clowney was the No. 1-ranked player coming out of high school. He went on to play three seasons at South Carolina and after his sophomore year, was named a consensus All-American.

Clowney’s junior year didn’t seem to go exceptionally well, almost as if he was just prepping himself for the next level. That’s how ahead of the game the former Gamecock pass-rusher was.

Fast forward a few years, and the Southeastern Conference has yet another star defensive end, but this time, he plays at Texas A&M. His name is Myles Garrett, as most SEC fans know, and he has accumulated 23.5 sacks over his first two seasons in college.

Garrett’s been called a “freak”, the “next big thing” and a number of other names speaking to his greatness. According to Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller, one scout called him a beast.

If Garrett keeps ascending (unlike Clowney) and has a clean image (unlike Gregory) heading into the 2017 NFL Draft, the Aggie superstar will undoubtedly be a top-five pick. Here’s a look at some of his numbers that will pop up come combine time.

“The junior has off-the-charts workout numbers,” Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman said of Garrett via collegespun.com. “He told me this month he power cleans 440 pounds and bench-presses 485 — staggering when you consider he also has a 40-inch vertical and his fastest 40 time at A&M, he said, is 4.45. “If I could dip into the 4.3s, that’d be great.”

If Garrett posts a 40-time in the 4.3s at some point, general managers and head coaches will be in even more awe of him. Maybe calling him a future top-five pick is obvious at this point.

Why not be selected No. 1 overall?
