Last year, Texas A&M opened its season with a Thursday night game against Northwestern State.

This year, it appears that the Aggies will again open the season during the week, as they announced on Wednesday that they were changing the date of their 2019 Week 1 matchup against Texas State.

Per a release from the school, the Aggies will host Texas State on Thursday, Aug. 29:

Texas A&M will once again host its first game of the football season on a Thursday as the university announced today it will move its game against Texas State from Saturday, August 31 to Thursday, August 29.

Similar to last year, when the season’s first game occurred on Thursday Aug. 30, university officials say the opportunity provides significant national exposure for the institution and its student athletes and coaches.

The Aggies are now the second team in the SEC to move their opener up, as Florida and Miami’s opener moved forward a full week.

The date and time for that Week 1 showdown has yet to be determined.
