After last night’s sobering 54-39 loss to LSU, many have wondered aloud about the job security of Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin.

Sumlin has had his share of success, but another late-season swoon has many questioning whether he will continue on with the program. In the past four season’s, the Aggie’s have a 3-9 conference record in the month of November, ahead of only Kentucky among SEC schools.

Despite these rumors, Texas A&M officials remain firmly behind Sumlin, according to footballscoop.com.

Per footballscoop.com, “A&M’s struggles in November (which coincided with the injury to quarterback Trevor Knight) had some wondering whether the administration might consider making a change; but sources tell FootballScoop Texas A&M’s administration strongly supports Kevin Sumlin.”

One determining factor would be Sumlin’s buyout. Texas A&M would have to pay $15 million in order to part ways with Sumlin, and that might not be money the school can afford to spend.

Already this offseason is shaping up to be an interesting one on the coaching front.
