Consider Chris Murray of the Reno Gazette-Journal a believer.

One of 60 voters in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 Poll, Murray moved Texas A&M from unranked to No. 2 after seeing what Kenny Hill and the Aggies did to South Carolina last Thursday in what he called college football’s most impressive win of opening weekend.

Murray has Texas A&M listed as a ‘team on the rise’ and had this to say about its 52-28 win over South Carolina:

  • The Aggies went from unranked to No. 2 in my poll, which is about as much as you can rise in one week. I reward teams that play and win big games and even though this was a forced game (it was a league matchup), it was the week’s biggest victory.

He dropped South Carolina from No. 9 to No. 21:

  • It would have been too hash to drop the Gamecocks out of the poll completely, but this certainly didn’t look like a top-10 team and might not even be a Top 25 team. But, coach Steve Spurrier will get his team turned around.

Here’s how Murray’s poll looks. The AP Top 25 will be released Tuesday afternoon.
