Jimbo Fisher wasn’t the only member of the Texas A&M football program to meet with the media down in Atlanta for 2018 SEC Media Days.

Here are some of the quotes provided by the Aggie contingent down in Atlanta:

Junior running back Treyveon Williams

On Head Coach Jimbo Fisher joining Texas A&M…

“Coach Fisher has brought a sense of history. He has been to the National Championship and he knows what it takes to win. He has brought that to this university, and he brought great coaching. He brought in the right guys to get us ready to win a national championship.”

On playing in a pro-style…

“The thought of having a fullback in front of me is nice. That’s a guy that can go in the hole before me to open things up. We have a great offensive line in front of us, and a great fullback that can set things up. I love the pro-style. I’m excited about it, coming from a spread as opposed to a pro style.”

On Coach Fisher’s running back plan…

“That was one of the first reasons I was excited to have him named as my head coach. He puts running back in great situations, and I’m excited about that. Coach Fisher is always saying that I need to run strong. That’s very important as a running back. I’m very excited to have him as my coach.”

On relationships with his offensive line…

“I love those guys to death, and I’d do anything for those guys. At the end of the day, they’d do anything for me. They are a great group of guys, and they are strong. I worked out with them at 5 a.m. today. I love those guys, because they don’t complain at all. They don’t always get the praise as offensive linemen. They do the right things, and I’m excited to call them mine.”

On personal goals:

“I don’t have any personal goals set aside. I’m focused on winning. We need a 10-plus win season, a bowl-game win, the SEC West and the SEC. Those personal goals will come, but I just want to win. My teammates are grinders, and we deserve it. We’ve been through so much, and we’re ready.”

Junior offensive lineman Erik McCoy

On going into year three…

“It’s great, with knowing what you are going to get on the field. We know what a lot of the other teams are going to do already, unless they had coaching changes. And it really just does give you an edge on the field.”

On leading the younger guys on the offensive line…

“It’s awesome, guys come in every day and they have questions that will amaze you. I definitely would not say I am the only leader on the offensive line. There is several of my guys like Connor Lanfear, Keaton Sutherland and Colton Prater that are helping me along with everything. They are great players as well.”

On Head Coach Jimbo Fisher’s message…

“His four key words are toughness, effort, discipline and pride, and he emphasizes that in everything we do. Whether that is strength in the weight room, the strength and conditioning, practice, the field and he really puts emphasis on it.”

On the importance of a linemen and Fisher’s four key words…

“It’s important, when you have a coach that puts emphasis on those things that makes you want to do them even more. Especially across the board with the young guys, it teaches them what they have to have to play here.”

On making a goal for 1,000 yard rushing with Trayveon Williams …

“It’s a big goal of course, every offensive lineman we have wants 1,000 yard rushing. Just blocking for Trayveon [Williams] is the best thing. There are times where he makes us look a lot better than what we actually are. He is a guy that can break a play off 60 to 70 yards, and we only gave him a little bit. He’s probably the most explosive guy I have ever met.”

On impressions on Fisher before and after coming to A&M…

“I’m going to say that my impressions of him haven’t really changed. I was excited when he got hired, and I’m still excited he is here. We are getting ready for the season. He is an intense guy and I love that.”

Senior defensive lineman Kingsley Keke

On Head Coach Jimbo Fisher…

“He’s a real tough guy. He’s all about business. He demands excellence, toughness, grit, all of those good things, both physically and mentally.”

On personal goals for the upcoming season…

“I want to be a leader on this team, vocally, on and off the field. To make some good plays for my team, and be there for my teammates whenever they need me.”

On Fisher bringing the team to the next level…

“Everyone on the team is excited about him being here. Jimbo Fisher has a proven track record of winning national championships. He’s a great coach. We all love what he’s done so far.”

On senior defensive lineman Daylon Mack…

“Going through workouts, Daylon has been doing really well. I think he’s in his best shape since he’s been here. The coaches are helping him with his diet and his eating to help him keep going.”

On what it is going to take to get over the eight-win hump…

“Finishing. Attacking the little things throughout the season. Everybody wants to win a championship, but you have to worry about the little things. You have to deal with adversity, take care of your body throughout the season and maintain it throughout the season. All of those little things play a role.”

On the first difference people will see this year …

“We’re playing for each other.”
