Texas A&M’s hot streak on the recruiting trail continues on as the Aggies have landed a huge commitment to build momentum moving into the 2019 recruiting cycle. The program’s latest pledge comes from Houston quarterback Grant Gunnell, the nation’s No. 2 pro-style quarterback in the nation for the 2019 recruiting cycle. The Aggies also landed a commitment from three-star receiver Chase Lane Monday.

These are the first two commitments for Texas A&M in the 2019 recruiting cycle. This news comes after the Aggies landed two of the nation’s best 2018 prospects Friday afternoon when defensive end Max Wright and safety Leon O’Neal Jr. both pledged to join Texas A&M’s 2018 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-6, 212-pound Gunnell currently ranks as a four-star prospect and the No. 5 overall recruit from the state of Texas for the 2019 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports. He committed to the Aggies over scholarship offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, TCU, and UCLA among others.

As a high school sophomore, Gunnell threw for 71 passing touchdowns and 4,970 passing yards. He also chipped in five rushing touchdowns.
