Texas A&M’s defensive line is getting a post-spring boost.

Junior college defensive tackle Ratu Mafileo, who measures 6-foot-3, 300 pounds, announced his commitment to the Aggies late Sunday after picking up an offer on his official visit to College Station this past weekend.

EJ Holland of The Dallas Morning News notes that Mafileo was considered an Oregon lean coming out of high school, but the Honolulu, Hawaii native did not qualify. Mafileo played this past season at College of San Mateo (Calif.), recording 34 tackles this past season, including seven tackles for loss and two sacks, as well as six passes batted down. He will have three seasons of eligibility with the Aggies.

Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin has recently boasted that this year’s defense could be a top-15 unit, and adding an experienced defensive tackle in Mafileo will certainly help up front.
