If new Texas A&M linebacker commit Santino Marchiol turns out to be anything close to former Aggies star defender Von Miller, he’ll be one hell of a player. Of course it will take time to get that point for Marchiol but it appears he’s off to a great start and doing everything he can to accomplish that goal.

After committing to the Aggies last week, Marchiol revealed he had spoke to Miller and asked his advice on reaching one’s potential on the football field. How did Marchiol know how to reach the MVP of Super Bowl 50? The two are neighbors in Colorado.

“His house, first of all, is entirely covered by 100 trees, so you can’t see into it,” Marchiol said according to Damon Sayles of Bleacher Report.

“I really admire him and want to try and be like him one day. With him coming from A&M, it really made me consider it more because of the influence he’s had on my childhood. I’ve asked him what it takes to play at that level. He said to keep away all the distractions, and just be the best you can be. That’s really what you’ve got to do, especially in high school.”

Seems to be working for Miller so far, as the Broncos’ defensive end is currently in negotiations to sign the richest free agent deal for an defensive player in the history of the NFL.

While Marchiol is from Colorado, he plays for IMG Academy in Florida, suggesting he’s receiving some of the best advice, access to the best facilities and high quality coaching in the world of high school football and competes against the some of the nation’s best athletes each and every day at practice.

If the talented linebacker truly does aspire to be like Miller one day, he appears to be doing everything in his power to make that happen to this point.
