A year ago, many people Johnny Manziel’s football career over as he was cut by the Cleveland Browns, facing a domestic violence case and was generating headlines for off-the-field antics and partying. With the case resolved and Manziel reunited with his former agent, the former Aggie’s NFL comeback bid has been seen as a real possibility around the league.

With the news of the New Orleans Saints showing Manziel serious interest, Colin Cowherd asked NFL analyst and former player Cris Carter for his take on the situation. Carter is strongly in favor of the Heisman winner getting another shot to play on Sundays.

Carter can relate personally to Manziel’s off-the-field struggles. Alcohol and drug problems led to Carter’s dismissal from the Philadelphia Eagles prior to the 1990 season. He’s been sober ever since, and went on to have a decorated career with the Minnesota Vikings, who gave him a second chance in 1990.
