Friday was a huge day for Kevin Sumlin’s program on the recruiting trail as the Aggies picked up commitments from dual four-star prospects. Defensive end Max Wright and safety Leon O’Neal Jr. both pledged to join Texas A&M’s 2018 recruiting class at the same time — in the same commitment video.

The 6-foot-4, 270-pound Wright is rated as the No. 3 strong-side defensive end in the nation, the No. 10 overall prospect from Texas and the No. 84 overall recruit in the nation according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Wright chose the Aggies over scholarship offers from Alabama, Texas, Arkansas, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Stanford, and USC among others.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound O’Neal is rated as the No. 6 safety in the nation, the No. 8 overall prospect from Texas and the No. 66 overall recruit in the nation according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. O’Neal committed to Texas A&M over offers from Alabama, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, UCLA, and USC among several others.

Here’s the video the two elite Texas prospects used to announce their commitments to the Aggies.

Following the commitment of both of these players, Texas A&M now has nine overall pledges lined up for the 2018 recruiting class. O’Neal and Wright are now the two highest-rated members of the Aggies’ 2018 recruiting class. Overall, A&M now has five four-star commits and rank No. 13 in the nation and are only currently behind LSU and Tennessee in the SEC.
