Former Texas QB Vince Young recently joined The Ben and Skin Show on 105.3 The Fan to discuss his career and other things.

One topic that was touched on was the potential to renew the Texas A&M-Texas rivalry, and Young, being the college football fan he is, certainly thinks it needs to be renewed. The first rivalry game was played October 19, 1894, and the last game came in 2011.

“Just the history and the tradition between my university, my great alma mater and then just the history of A&M,” Young said. “I mean, they have a lot of history as well and then that rivalry game.

“The friendship that people have with Aggies and Longhorns coming together for one big game, eating dinner just to talk trash for a day. I mean, it’s fun. Especially for Texas, man. It’s fun to compete and have fun, especially the fans.

“I mean, I enjoy messing with my niece all the time, she’s an Aggie, so I enjoy giving her a hard time every year.”

The Aggies and Longhorns haven’t played since 2011, and the Horns won that game 27-25 in College Station. Texas has a dominant lead in the series 76-37-5.

Hopefully, the decision-makers of these two universities come together and make this happen. It would be great for both programs, the state of Texas and college football.
