The Texas A&M Aggies are one of a few SEC teams embroiled in a quarterback battle this offseason, with Kellen Mond and Nick Starkel both vying for the starting job.

New coach Jimbo Fisher hasn’t revealed much about the battle or when he’ll make a decision, but he did discuss the battle on Thursday.

As you can see in the video below, Fisher describes the sort of things he’s been learning about each quarterback so far during summer practices:

“I mean, their knowledge, how they learn, do they make the same mistakes twice, do they understand certain situations, do they understand how their play relates to certain downs and distances?” Fisher said. “… Trying to get them to understand that and see who can be the most consistent.”

So, when will a decision be made?

“I wish I knew,” he said simply with a smile.

For now, Aggie fans will have to continue waiting, as Fisher doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to name a starter.
