He may not be a wide receiver by trade, but Johnny Manziel made one of the more memorable catches of the weekend. Manziel faked an argument with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan before streaking downfield on a 39-yard reception to the Ravens’ 23.

Unfortunately, the play was called back as Terrance West wasn’t set on the play and flagged five yards for an illegal shift that nullified the catch. Minutes after the play, former NFL Vice President of Officiating Mike Pereira, the Fox rules analyst, revealed that the play itself was “an illegal hideout play” and should’ve resulted in a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty anyway.

In a team’s bench area, between the two 32-yard lines, a player can’t line up or set within five yards of the sideline. The ball was snapped at Cleveland’s 38-yard line, which is illegal.
