Like many impressionable high school athletes, 3-star outside linebacker Devodrick Johnson was confused.

He — like many Division 1 recruits — has had college coaches constantly calling, texting, and messaging him with the hopes Johnson would sign with their said school.

He initially committed to Texas A&M — before reneging on that pledge. Since Matt Rhule took over the Baylor job, the Bears have been heavily pursuing the Dallas athlete. In fact, Johnson was the first recruit Rhule had offered since landing in Waco.

With National Signing Day on Wednesday, Johnson had yet to solidify his decision one way or the other. On Tuesday, he did just that — announcing his final thoughts on Twitter:

This is a major deal for Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin. After Johnson visited College Station on Jan. 20, he officially tripped to Baylor this past weekend.

With the momentum said to be on Baylor’s side, Johnson came full-circle and ended up where he made his initial commitment.
