Admiral Schofield jokes about Tennessee coach Rick Barnes trying to understand his players' lingo
The Tennessee Volunteers picked up a big 73-65 win at Ole Miss on Saturday afternoon, keeping the pressure on Auburn atop the SEC standings.
The Vols are solidly in second place in the conference under head coach Rick Barnes, and things are going well, except in one particular area.
According to Admiral Schofield, Barnes is still behind when it comes to locker-room lingo. Schofield joked that Barnes just learned what “dope” means, and hasn’t stopped using it since:
#Vols’ Admiral Schofield on Rick Barnes not understanding the team’s ‘Turn Me Up’ mantra: He’s trying, man. But he just learned what ‘dope’ means, so now he walks around all day saying ‘that’s dope’ to everybody.

Maybe before the end of the year, Barnes will be up to saying “rad” and “sick” in addition to “dope,” but that’s probably not a safe bet.
He may be years away from catching up to his players’ lingo, but at least the Vols are playing well on the court, so all is well in Vol Nation.
