National Signing Day is on Feb. 4 and the SEC is primed to bring in another impressive haul of top recruits in the 2015 recruiting class.

In the next 25 days, Saturday Down South counts down the top 25 recruits either committed to the SEC or strongly considering SEC schools.

No. 4 Kahlil McKenzie

Position: Defensive Tackle
247Sports ranking: No. 6 overall; No. 2 overall in California
Committed: Committed to Tennessee

The skinny: Kahlil McKenzie is a bad man, and many think — and justifiably so — that he’s the best overall player in the country. Tennessee signing California’s best players is reminiscent of the late 90s, when Tennessee football was winning championships. McKenzie reminds me of former Florida DT Shariff Floyd, who now plays for the Minnesota Vikings, although McKenzie weighs about 40 more pounds than Floyd did exiting high school. Floyd was a bull in high school, and he eventually became a first-round pick. McKenzie has simply overpowered lesser talents in high school, and once hitting Tennessee’s campus, it’s all about refining his game and sharpening the tools of his God-given talent. McKenzie plays angry, and he’s the centerpiece for Butch Jones’ recruiting class.

Freshman projection: Tennessee continues to build its line of scrimmage. With Derek Barnett and Curt Maggitt at defensive end, McKenzie will only make this group better. Yeah, he’ll play as a freshman, and he may even start. He’s too good to keep off the field at 6-3, 354 pounds. Tennessee fans will eventually be able to compare him to former Vols John Henderson and Albert Haynesworth, two players who dominated in Orange.
