Tennessee DE/LB Curt Maggitt will return for his senior season, head coach Butch Jones confirmed to GoVols247 Thursday.

“He’ll be back with us,” Jones said. “And obviously we’re excited about that.”

Maggitt recorded 48 tackles, including 15 for loss and a team-best 11 sacks for the Vols last season. The redshirt junior was named to the AP All-SEC second team and won the 2014 Al Wilson Leadership Award.

The West Palm Beach, Fla., native has 134 tackles, including 25.5 for loss and 13.5 sacks in three years with Tennessee. The redshirt junior has appeared in 33 career games and made 26 starts.

Maggitt played his first full season in 2014 after battling injuries his entire career. He suffered a season-ending ACL injury in 2012 and took a redshirt in 2013 recovering from off-season surgeries.
