After leaving the Tennessee program back in March, rising senior defensive lineman Dimarya Mixon has finally announced his next stop, he’s headed to Texas to play for Chad Morris’ SMU program.

The California native never started for the Vols but made 37 appearances over the last three seasons for Tennessee’s defense. During that stretch, he made 19 tackles and one sack. While announcing his decision on Twitter, Mixon claims the decision to leave Rocky Top was his own. In his statement, he thanked his former coaches and the fans and noted his presence as a lifetime Vol:

SMU went 5-7 last season but did achieve one of the season’s biggest upsets, beating Houston by a score of 38-16. Mixon signed with Tennessee as a member of its 2014 recruiting class. He was considered a three-star prospect coming out of high school.
