The annual Manning Passing Academy, which is being held this weekend at Nicholls State University, brings together some of the best quarterbacks in the country to teach high school skill-position players.

Tennessee QB Josh Dobbs is a counselor at the academy this year, where he’s learning at least as much as he’s teaching. According to nola.com, Dobbs has enjoyed picking Peyton Manning’s brain this weekend:

“He’s ‘The Sheriff.’ He’s the greatest to ever play at the position,” Dobbs said Friday. “When you come from Tennessee especially playing quarterback every time you step on the field you not only representing yourself, not only representing the Vols, you’re representing him. That’s kind of how I play.”

But this weekend isn’t just about Dobbs and Peyton Manning. Dobbs said there are several top quarterbacks at the camp and he’s trying to learn from all of them:

“Talking to Deshaun (Watson), talked to Josh (Rosen), talked to Peyton, talked to Eli (Manning) and different guys,” he said.” Just see how they’re throwing this summer and what they’re doing to get better. Just finding new and inventive ways to progress. … I’m really honored to be here and trying to make the most of the opportunity.”

Dobbs threw for 2,291 yards and 15 touchdowns (with only five interceptions) in 2015. He also ran for 11 touchdowns.

As a senior in 2016, he’ll need to have another strong season to keep pressure off RB Jalen Hurd. That will help the Volunteers live up to their lofty expectations.
