Justin Worley has shown poise and confidence this season. Facing Utah State and Arkansas State, the senior quarterback put up career numbers in his first two games and looks to be much improved from his first three seasons in Knoxville.

However, Worley will have a big task facing No. 4 Oklahoma on the road in Norman this weekend, which he feels his experience has prepared him for.

“I feel a lot more ready,” Worley said after Tennessee’s practice Tuesday. “I’m comfortable in this type of situation after going to Oregon last season and just playing in different types of road games in the SEC.

You’ve got to start fast against ranked teams on the road. That’s one of our goals, to execute early. And you can’t get caught up in the crowd or anything else. It’s just another week for us, it just happens to be on the road.”

Worley has the experience playing against tough road competition. Last season, Worley made starts at Oregon and Alabama in 2013, while also making sporadic appearances early in his career.

In his first three seasons, Worley struggled to find consistency. With an improved wide receiving corps, Worley looks to continue his progression through the season.

Thus far, Worley has proven that he is a much more mature quarterback in his final season. Worley will have the opportunity to prove that his breakout games weren’t just the product of weak competition. If Tennessee stands any chance against the highly favored Sooners, Worley must have yet another strong performance on Saturday.
