Jeremy Pruitt has worked hard to upgrade his Tennessee coaching staff this offseason adding the likes of offensive coordinator Jim Chaney, receivers coach Tee Martin and defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley since the conclusion of the 2018 season. While those hires have all been praised publicly, the best judges of the hires will come from the players on Rocky Top.

So far, so good for Pruitt.

Tennessee’s new-look coaching staff recently got their first look at the 2019 team inside the team’s indoor practice facility, as shown in the video below, and not long after that release, two players have come out and expressed their opinions of their new coaches.

Starting with the team’s starting quarterback, Jarrett Guarantano, Chaney seems to be an early hit with the leader of the Volunteer offense. While Chris Weinke is likely to earn the official quarterback coaches role in 2019, the team’s official coaching titles have not yet been released at this time, expect Chaney to be working very closely with his signal callers on Rocky Top.

After being exposed to the offense for just a short time, Guarantano already likes what he is seeing from Chaney’s offense:

In addition to that comment, one of Tennessee’s rising stars has also expressed his approval of his new position coach.

Rising sophomore defensive back seems to appreciate the fact that Coach Ansley will be coaching him up in 2019. Check out this tweet sent out by the Tennessee defensive back:

The true test of these relationships will obviously come in the fall but so far so good for Tennessee in terms of the impression the program’s new assistants are making with the current team this offseason.
