Tennessee offensive graduate assistant Nick Sheridan is leaving the program to take a job with the Central Michigan Chippewas in 2017. Sheridan will be the second offensive assistant to leave the Vols this season, following offensive coordinator Mike DeBord’s departure for the same role at Indiana.

The three-year Volunteers assistant will serve as Central Michigan’s running backs coach next season, according to CoachingSearch.com:

The Chippewas play in the MAC, where they finished with a 6-7 record, falling 55-10 to Tulsa in the Miami Beach Bowl. Several coaches on the Tennessee staff have connections to CMU, including head coach Butch Jones, receivers coach Zach Azzanni and former offensive coordinator Mike DeBord.

Sheridan came to Tennessee from South Florida, where he spent two years under now-Oregon coach Willie Taggart as a graduate assistant and passing game coordinator.
