Jeremy Pruitt has a strong reputation as one of the South’s best recruiters. However, often times, it doesn’t matter how good of a recruiter a coach is, his efforts can be surpassed by a recruit’s peers. That’s something that Tennessee 2019 commit Jackson Lampley knows and is using to his advantage to help UT load up in their latest recruiting class.

During a Sunday night appearance on Knoxville-based WNML radio program The Nation, Lampley was asked about his willingness to recruit for the Vols considering he’s the only prospect currently committed to the program.

In his response, Lampley named two of the top linemen prospects in the nation for 2019.

“I’m definitely going to recruit as hard as I can,” Lampley said. “I’ve already started recruiting a lot of guys, guys like Darnell Wright, Bill Norton, and Tymon Mitchell. I really want to help bring this program back to prominence. I feel like if I’m able to recruit some high-class talent and we get a good class rolling, we’ll have a ring on our finger in a few years.”

If Lampley helps Pruitt and company bring those three into the fold, it would be a great start for the Vols as Wright is a five-star prospect and the No. 3 offensive tackle in the nation, Norton is a four-star and the No. 11 strongside defensive end in the nation, while Mitchell is ranked as one of the state’s top defensive linemen in 2019.

It’s quite clear the early goal of Tennessee’s 2019 recruiting efforts will start at the line of scrimmage. Landing Lampley was a good start for Pruitt, but his coaches will have to put in a ton of work over the next 12 months to lock down some more elite prospects. Thanks to Lampley, they now have some assistance from one of Tennessee’s top overall prospects this cycle.
