While Tennessee is still busy figuring out who will replace Joshua Dobbs as the team’s starting quarterback, the Vols have added a potential piece for the future at that position.

Michael Penix, a 3-star quarterback from Tampa, Fla., announced his commitment to Tennessee on Twitter Saturday evening.

As a junior last season, Penix threw for 2,078 yards with 31 touchdowns and only one interception, according to maxpreps.com. Tennessee is likely looking to add a couple of quarterbacks in this class, so Penix’s commitment may not be the last on at the position for the Vols.

Penix is rated as the No. 25 pro-style quarterback prospect for the Class of 2018, according to the 247Sports Composite Ranking.
