Tennessee secures first 2017 commit, pass rusher from North Carolina
Butch Jones has taken another from Larry Fedora’s backyard.
Tennessee secured its first commitment for the 2017 class on Sunday after four-star defensive end D.T. Riley (Durham, N.C.) announced he’s planning on wearing orange in a couple years.

”I just love the fire that the coaching staff has — just how excited they are about things,” Riley told Scout. “I feel like they’re going to help me better myself not only as a football player, but as a man. I have a close relationship with (defensive line) coach (Steve) Stripling. He communicates very well and I see myself developing with him as my defensive line coach.”
Riley visited Tennessee’s campus last week which was more than enough to convince the 6-foot-5, 295-pounder where he wanted to be heading into his junior prep season this fall.
The Vols offered Riley on June 9. He was thought to be a North Carolina lean, per 247Sports’ Crystal Ball, before Tennessee came calling.
