Home is where the heart is.

For running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn, home is Nashville.

The sophomore running back announced on Twitter that he will transfer from Illinois in order to play at Vanderbilt:

A sophomore originally from Pearl-Cohn High School, Vaughn was the 2014 Class AA Mr. Football. He rushed for 723 yards and six touchdowns as freshman. Vaughn was then named to the Doak Walker Award watch list heading into his sophomore year.

However in 2016, he rushed for only 301 yards — and saw his involvement within the team steadily decrease.

This is a big pickup for Vanderbilt. With Ralph Webb returning for one more season, Vaughn would theoretically be able to impact the depth chart a year from now once he’s eligible — and when Webb has graduated.

Even if he doesn’t grab the starting job, Vaughn helps add depth and experience to the Commodores’ backfield. He’ll have two years to play two once he sits out this upcoming season.

A former 4-star prospect, Vaughn initially chose Illinois over the likes of Ohio State, West Virginia, and Notre Dame.
