The Johnny McCrary era didn’t last long at Mercer, as the former Vanderbilt quarterback has left the football program, and intends to leave the school, after just arriving this summer.

McCrary started games for the Commodores in both his freshman and sophomore seasons in Nashville, throwing for 2,518 yards, 15 touchdowns and 20 interceptions in two seasons of action. As a sophomore, McCrary lost his job to freshman Kyle Shurmur late last season and only threw for 104 total yards in Vanderbilt’s final four games of 2015.

McCrary announced his intentions to transfer from Vanderbilt in March. According to Daniel Shirley of The Macon Telegraph, McCrary plans to attend Clark Atlanta but will not seek a playing career at the school.
