Head coach Derek Mason made sweeping changes to his coaching staff when he fired both his offensive and defensive coordinators following the regular season.

According to FootballScoop, the Commodores are on the verge of hiring their replacements.

Andy Ludwig is finishing up his second season at Wisconsin as the Badgers’ offensive coordinator. Wisconsin’s offense relied heavily on the rushing attack behind Heisman Trophy candidate Melvin Gordon, who was the NCAA’s leading rusher. In Ludwig’s first season as offensive coordinator, Wisconsin’s offense set a new school-record scoring 34.8 points per game.

For defensive coordinator, Wes McGriff returns back to Vanderbilt where he was the defensive backs coach in 2011 and coached a secondary that recorded 19 interceptions in 2011, good for second in the SEC. After leaving the Commodores, he joined Hugh Freeze at Ole Miss where he was named co-defensive coordinator for the Rebels and cornerbacks coach in 2012.

McGriff later joined the New Orleans Saints coaching staff as the team’s secondary coach in 2013.

No official announcement has been made by Vanderbilt regarding the hires.
