Vanderbilt recently lost defensive line coach Frank Maile to Utah State, where he was given the co-defensive coordinator responsibilities.

It took Commodores coach Derek Mason, who also serves as the team’s defensive coordinator, very little time to find a replacement in former Oklahoma Sooner C.J. Ah You.

Ah You is a former Sooners lineman that earned All-Big 12 honors and played six season in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams.

He was hired by Bob Stoops at his alma mater to be a defensive quality control assistant in 2014.

Here is what Mason had to say about the hire, according to a press release from the Vanderbilt athletic communications staff:

“C.J. brings a lot of energy, enthusiasm, passion and knowledge to the job. He’s going to be an outstanding addition to our coaching staff,” Vanderbilt Head Coach Derek Mason said. “C.J. is one of those impressive young guys in our profession whose name keeps coming up in conversations. I believe C.J. will be a strong recruiter for our program and great leader for our D-line.”

Stoops also Tweeted a congratulatory message on Thursday:
