Week 2 NFL recap: Vanderbilt's Jay Cutler shines in San Fran's new stadium
The knock on Jay Cutler has often been he can’t win big games.
On Sunday night in San Francisco, he sparked a 27-20 win over the 49ers with three touchdown passes during a decisive fourth quarter.
Skip Bayless, a notable Vanderbilt grad, was impressed.
Cutler throws 4 TD passes 0 INTs and leads Bears in rushing. What a Sunday night performance by one of Vanderbilt's finest.

Cutler helped the Bears knock off one of the NFC favorites with pinpoint precision in the red zone. Chicago scored all four times inside the 20 — all on Cutler touchdown passes — to spoil San Francisco’s first regular season contest at Levi’s Stadium.
Cutler finished 23-of-34 for 176 yards and no interceptions.
Other Vanderbilt notables:
- Running back Zac Stacy rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries during the Rams’ two-point win in Tampa. He did lose a fumble.
- Cornerback Andre Hal batted away a pass during Houston’s 30-14 win over the Raiders.
- Eagles rookie wideout Jordan Matthews battles Indianapolis today on Monday Night Football.
- Sean Richardson made a tackle for the Packers during their victory against the New York Jets.
