Vanderbilt (1-1) is coming off a big 47-24 win over Middle Tennessee and hopes to continue the momentum against its next non-conference opponent in Georgia Tech, which will be played in Atlanta this Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Here’s what coach Derek Mason had to say during Wednesday’s SEC teleconference.

On Georgia Tech’s triple-option offense:

“Georgia Tech presents problems on both sides of the ball. We took two weeks in the summer to evaluate and prepare for drill work this week, working option responsibilities. That was our intro to that this summer. Our guys have compartmentalized it well. You can’t adjust to pace, to the speed of the game, so we will have to adjust (during the game).”

On dealing with the thunderstorm last weekend vs. MTSU:

“I loved how we responded after halftime. All part of the process this team has to get to see what they are capable of doing; it was a breakthrough moment.”

On Ralph Webb building off his big performance:

“It speaks to him, but also the offensive line. Teams are going to load the box (against us)… I think as we grow, the balance of the pass and the run will open up our tight ends and the middle of the field.”
