You miss the Honey Badger yet?

It was announced yesterday that Tyrann Mathieu will sit out all of 2012 and enroll in classes at LSU.

His dad, Tyrone Mathieu, confirmed to ESPN yesterday that Honey Badger would indeed sit out this season and get his personal life straight, with the help of mentor and former NBA coach John Lucas at Right Step recovery center in Houston, Texas.

“Tyrann is working on discipline, maturity and character,” Tyrone Mathieu said. “He’s making life adjustments.”

This is the best decision Matheiu could have made.

But don’t think he’ll be out of sight and out of mind, though. He will live on vicariously through Twitter this football season, and he will take his playmaking ability, bottle it up and battle his addiction at rehab.

LSU received about 20 requests to speak to Mathieu about his transfer, but as it turns out, he decided not to pursue these other options and will instead focus on getting his personal life straight at this time.

My advice for Mathieu is to lay low, nix social media and focus on one thing: recovery.

Hopefully for his former teammates, his presence will not create a distraction in their pursuit of a national title.
