Alex Collins’ mother, Andrea McDonald, stole the show on National Signing Day, and other than Alabama, Ole Miss and Auburn, McDonald was the talk of the day.

Alex Collins is arguably the top ranked running back in the state of Florida, and what was supposed to be one of the best days of his life turned into a nightmare, when his mother took his LOI and ran away with it. Collins turned out to be a no-show for his signing ceremony.

McDonald was upset that her son didn’t choose the Hurricanes via Fox Sports South.

“She’s having anxiety,” Collins’ older brother Johnny said. “I know she preferred him to go to UM. Alex had said he was going to the U, and then all of a sudden he changes his mind. We found out he was going to Arkansas on TV.

“I would prefer him to go to Miami, too. Because it would be a better program for him, a better environment. He could get home faster and it’s more convenient if Mom wants to go to a game – instead of having to fly to Arkansas.”

This is a classic tale of a mother not approving where her son wants to play ball.

However, through all the smoke, Collins said yesterday that he will stick with Arkansas.

“It’s been stressful but I feel a lot of relief after I made my decision,” he told NBC 6’s Joe Rose. “I feel like everything will get easier now. I just have to sign that paper, and then everything else will be easy.”

Collins is now scheduled to sign with Arkansas this afternoon in Plantation, according to 247Sports.

Updated:  Collins’ mother has said to have hired an attorney because of what went down yesterday.
