The SEC’s richest assistant coaches

Two of the three highest paid assistant coaches are in the SEC, according to the USA Today’s assistant coach salaries.

Alabama’s Kirby Smart and LSU’s John Chavis are the two highest paid assistants in the SEC, but Clemson OC Chad Morris is the highest paid assistant in the country, making $1,309,650. Smart is making over $1.1 million and Chavis is making right at $1.1 million.

After Smart and Chavis, Georgia’s Todd Grantham is the third highest, making $850,000 per year. Then, Auburn’s Ellis Johnson and Texas A&M’s Mark Snyder are next. Is defense king in the SEC or what?

Alabama OC Doug Nussmeier is the highest paid offensive coordinator, making $680,000 per year, and LSU RB coach Frank Wilson is the highest paid non-coordinator in the SEC, making $600,000.
